Recon Company started sharpening surgical instruments over 40 years ago and we have continued to expand our expertise of instruments ever since. The following is a partial list of instruments we sharpen: acetabular “cheese grater” reamers, chisels, cobb elevators, curettes, drill bits, flexible reamers, gouges osteotomes, rongeurs, scissors, straight reamers, etc.
Recon takes instruments that have seen their better days and reconstructs them to be “like-new”. This includes replacing handles, rebuilding pin cutters, replacing springs and carbide inserts, manufacturing component parts for hard-to-find instruments, realigning bent instruments and much more. We can even replace the heads on worn out Cobb Elevators to make them virtually new.
Also, our facility houses an assortment of mills, lathes, and polishing wheels and other machinery specific to repairing, sharpening, and refurbishing an instrument. We mask off all instrument identification so it is preserved.
